We went to sea twice, in adverse winds & unpleasant conditions, both times turning back to Iceland. With a very poor long range weather forecast of north winds, we are dropping Jan Mayen - not enough time. Hue has to make her flight on the 15th and I have to meet two new crew. We will travel along the north shore of Iceland & spend time exploring the Westfjords.

A memorable moment: turning back 25 miles NW of the coast at 2 am, and before us a wide vista of the jagged Iceland mountains, and low to the south the sky a pale turquoise, the clouds a pale purple.

Sunset here - 11.50 pm, sunrise - 2 am.

At Neskaupstadir now. Sun, blue sky, snow-patched fjord, all stunning, such clarity.

Will move out this afternoon, travel north to round the long peninsula of Langanes jutting NE & turn west to the harbor of Raufarhofn, 120 NM. The wind forecast to be favorable this evening for the next 24 hours for this transit.
